Your file format produced from your Panasonic camcorder is the same as the one I produced; 1080p MP4 @ 50Mbps. The only difference is yours is NTSC and mine is PAL.
Just to confirm, just exporting the video with no edits or captions is very slow.
Is there any reason why you don't have Enable Hardware encode acceleration ticked in the Share tab?

CandiveThat’s odd, I would expect using a MP4 video, setting project properties to match, then Share – Same as First Clip would / should be the fastest render speed, only slowing when adding edits, titles, filters etc. For ddickerson47 rendering like for like has to be faster than 11 hours. I noticed the data rate appears to be variable whereas rendering using Video Studio uses a constant rate. I do record to MP4 using a Sony camera, I’ll checked it out to see if I have recorded to 50P, they are also variable yet constant after running through VS, although render times were 2x, only tested on a short clip. Are you able to share a short MP4 video ? The last time i had anything like slow renders was back a long time ago working with SVCD, and that’s before DVD became readily available, 12 times video duration took 8 hours to complete.

Hi Trevor Andrew , I agree with you based on my test results that I posted previously; using a Panasonic like ddickerson47 ; shooting 1080p 50Mbps MP4 and exporting a one hour movie completed in 20 min - not 11 hours using "Same as first clip." Reviewing his hardware specs, its more than enough to handle this project. It could be his installation of VS; maybe something to do with that MP4 hotfix they just released? Maybe applying the hotfix may fix it or a reinstallation of VS? It could also be his graphics driver that may need an update. I'm more than happy to test a clip if he provides a link but I think at this stage it has something to do with his installation of VS or some graphics hardware/driver issue. The current Nvidia Studio driver for his graphics card is 551.86 released today 2024.03.19

Trying to keep a diary of each step now. Here are three renders. May have the long renders conquered. But the sync problem is still haunting me. It comes and goes. Project 240310C_01 Preference>Performance Ticked Enable Smart Proxy Ticked Custom under Proxy file Format. Ticked Enable hardware encoder acceleration. NVIDEA GeForce RTX 3060 Share to MPEG-2 SD (720x480, 16:9, 30p, 8Mbps) 240310 FBCM JGrubbs C_01 untick Preview Range Untick Enable Smart Render Tick Enable Hardware encode acceleration CPU bounceing around 14 to 30%. Mostly around 24-25%. Took 40 min 6 sec delay in video track compared to subtitle track

Project 240310C_01 Same setting except to MPEG-4 File 240310 FBCM JGrubbs C_02 6 min preview Finished 5 min No Sync problem I have tried editing the video by sliding the video track to the right, saving project, sliding it back to correct place, saving but the sync problem persists. The sync problem shows up at 6 seconds into the video at the red arrow in the attached pic of my timeline. Here are links from my dropbox of one of the MPEG-2 renders and one MP4 if you want to see the sync problem. Hi ddickerson47 First a comment using Smart Proxy. After activating Smart Proxy we have to create the Proxy files. Files are automatically created when adding video clips to the timelines, for existing projects where the clips are already on the timeline we have to tell the program to create the proxy files. Once created a small green disc shows on the clip. (VS 2023)
Creating proxies will take a long time especially for a 1hr video. You can test the process using the libraries Sample Lake clip, right click that clip for “Create Proxy Files”, when complete the green disc should now show on the clip.
You can view the Proxy files from Settings – Smart Proxy Manager - Smart Proxy files, having a similar name to the associated file.
Your project does not show that disc and as such is not using proxy files. If you do not have any problems navigating and playing the timelines then I would deselect Smart Proxy as you do not need that option.
As far as I understand it Proxy files help with timeline playback and has no effect when rendering.
I will download the sample video after playing may be able to comment on the 6 sec shift, again seems unusual.

Hi ddickerson47, Thanks for the links, we will take a look at them. Even better would be for you to create a Smart Package. A Smart Package is basically a backup of your project and source material. Go to the top menu; File/Smart Package and follow the instructions. It can be created as a folder or a zip file. You can then provide a link to the folder or zip file. That way we can work on the project that you created to resolve your 6 sec delay issue. BTW, have you resolved your 11 hr export problem or is that still an outstanding issue?

Hi ddickerson47 A couple of comments
1 / Some time ago we had problems with clip positions where a transition on the overlay track lay immediately below the video tracks clip, difficult to replicate but similar to your layout. If the transition is a crossfade type you can replace that by using Customise Motion to apply a fade out
2 / There may also be issues when using Gap editing, never really works that well since it was introduced a few versions ago. I do know of problems with Ripple Editing You appear to have moved all clips on the top track to the right to create the gap. That gap appears to be 6 seconds
I suggest you fill that gap with a black colour clip, view the Library Backgrounds – solid colors.

Hi ddickerson47 and Trevor Andrew, I think as a general rule, the caption generation and spelling correction comes at the very end of the project process. If you start editing the video clips after generating the captions, there is a high risk that you will mess up the synch. So edit the video, add transitions and overlays etc. Once you are happy with the video; generate the captions and fix the spelling errors etc. If you need to change the video in any way, you probably have to regenerate the captions again and proceed to fix the spelling errors.

Hi ddickerson47 The MP4 video I assume is a HD video using the original video properties and has NO problems with the 6 second shift
If you start a new project and add that MP4 to the top track you can now render to Mpeg2 which should not have this 6 sec issue. Then use the Mpeg2 to burn a DVD

Hi ddickerson47 , Thank you for providing your video clips. I imported them into my VS2023, generated the captions and exported. I did not make any spelling corrections. The link below is a folder containing 3 files; FBCM_01 is your MP4 file with my captions using same as first clip FBCM_02 is your MP4 file converted to MPEG-2 FBCM_03 is your MPEG-2 file with my captions using same as first clip All the captions are in synch. I go back to my previous comment. Edit your video. When you are happy, don't touch it again. Generate the captions and fix the spelling. Export. To complete your project follow Trevor Andrew 's advice. Import your good MP4 file into VS2023 and export it as a MPEG-2 file and you should be good to go! FBCM

Trevor/Candive, Finally got it to render without any sync problems and in an acceptable amount of time. Final fix for the sync was filling that opening gap on the video track with a black colour clip. Rendered an MPEG-2 file.
Now it's on to the DVD which may present some other problems from my earlier attempts. Will see and if there is a problem I guess it would be best to start a new thread, correct?
Candive, don't guess there is any need for the Smart Package anymore? I do have it and can upload if there is a need.
Thanks so much for all the help you two provided.

Hi ddickerson47 , That is great!! ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png) Now that you have resolved your issue, no need for the smart package. If you do have any problems burning a DVD, just start a new thread. I haven't burned a DVD in years but when I did, I remember that by picking the slowest burn rate, my DVD would successfully play on my finicky DVD player. If I burned the DVD at its fastest rate, sometimes the player couldn't read the DVD. You may not have this issue but its something to consider if your DVD doesn't play on an external DVD player after burning. Good Luck!

Hi There is some info on burning discs, includes details for DVD and Bluray lata.me.uk/corel/all.htmThis will avoid any additional rendering during the burning process. The menus are a little depleted, not being updated for a while. I do have some menus from earlier versions and can provide if you need those. If 2023 is the only version installed then go to the Welcome Store Free section to install a few menus And yes start a new topic if you wish to discuss burning DVD, this topic is quite long Good to hear you are moving forward.....
