Normally,VS 2024 is released around now. Any ideas as to its release date from Alludo?

The recent update patch for VS 2023 is all that we will be getting this year. That is clear and Alludo confirmed it in advance of the patch. Whether there will ever be a VS 2024 is an open question, with speculation running from a subscription model to outright dropping of this and other Corel product. But we have received nothing from Alludo itself about any of this and I stress that it is pure speculation...

With the demise of many long standing user forums, along with the total lack of any updates or patches, I'd say there will not be a 2024. If there is, with the lack of updates in that past, and total lack of communication with the public, the shutting down of a valuable tech support asset, the user forum, I wouldn't give them any money. One update a year just doesn't work in my world. I would love to be proven wrong.

Hi. Just my two cents. Irony on. When I think of this topic, names such as insolvency administrators, bankruptcy administrators or general enforcement administrators come to mind. Irony off.
Do not take it seriously ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png) .

ME: I wrote to Corel support: Have a nice day. When will they release the latest version of VS 2024? Support Answer: There is currently no confirmed release date for any latest version It will be displayed on the previous software or emailed to customers who have received notifications when it launches. You can currently view the latest versions on our website Me: You didn't help me much, thank you, have a nice day.

Hello,
I have been an annual user and purchaser since the Ulead days; however, I did not purchase VS2019 or VS2020 Ultimate. Too buggy... So I purchased VS Ultimate 2021 but never did use it, because it is a bit weird to use for me (wipes out previous versions of VS, strange UI, etc)… I purchased VS ultimate 2023, but use it on a different computer. Therefore I am using VS2018 and VS2023. So I will stick with Video Studio until they finally pull the plug...

In the last few days I have seen some trivia about CorelDRAW 2024. That's all.

I think Alludo would regard CorelDRAW as their main money spinner and would thus work on a new version. After all, when our forums, and those of Pinnacle, Roxio etc were closed, the only forums in the Alludo/Corel stable which remained open were those of CorelDRAW...

Compared to VS I have to say: 1- It needs a weaker system. 2- It has attractive ready-made animations for texts. 3- It is possible to access exact coordinates. 4- It has a more powerful keyframe control. 5- It is possible to access two separate powerful software for color correction and sound editing. 6- It has a higher rendering speed. And other things that I will not mention. However, VS has features that PowerDirector lacks. For example, in VS, it is possible to export the alpha channel for videos, while PowerDirector does not have it. VS has the best user interface. VS was a masterpiece from Ulead that will never be erased from my mind. VS is my love and I'm so sad that Alludo took ownership of it. If you want my opinion, use VS and PowerDirector at the same time. These two software are a good complement to each other. I edit with PowerDirector out of necessity; If VS had more features than now, I would only edit with VS.

I've always said that software are like tools. Use the right tool for the job. If you need a box wrench, you won't use a pair of pliers. There is nothing wrong with using several tools to get the results that you are looking for. A good editor will not rely on just one tool for everything. There is no one editor that does everything better than everything else.
As for Powerdirector, I owned it for a couple of years, many years ago. It was nice, but certainly not what I was looking for. "Canned" looks, and to me, amateurish "effects" (at least to me) were not a part of my editing needs. But I haven't used their software in years.
The price is right, and I guess they are constantly upgrading it, something that VS will not see, so I would suggest for someone to download a trial version and see if it is your "cup of tea". As I wrote, I have several editing software installed on my computer and will use whatever is necessary for me to finish my videos. My "loyalty" is to "me".

There is nothing wrong with using several tools to get the results that you are looking for. A good editor will not rely on just one tool for everything. There is no one editor that does everything better than everything else. I agree with tonyp As an example, yesterday, I needed to quickly create a photo slide show so I used VideoStudio's Highlight Reel. Some of the photos were portraits so the system automatically added a background blur using a filter called Background Blur (obviously). I was so impressed I was curious to know if other editors had this filter. I looked at 4 different video editors and while they had blur filters they did not have the capability of this specific one. see attached image. In VideoStudio, if you want to add a blurry background to a portrait image/video all you have to do is add the Background Blur filter. To achieve the same effect in other editors you first have to take the photo and place it on the main track. Then you have to stretch/distort the image to 16:9 aspect ratio. The 3rd step is to add a gaussian blur filter to the image. Once complete, you then add the original image onto the overlay track. So VideoStudio can achieve the same effect in one step while others require four! So as tonyp said; "Use the right tool for the job." ![](//storage.proboards.com/7370495/thumbnailer/slRSfcMeqcteMhXtauwk.png)
