Just a quick update. As I researched other video editors to determine if they had a similar effect, all the YouTube tutorials I watched followed the 4 step process I listed above. Upon further research I discovered that both Davinci Resolve and Vegas Pro have similar effects. In Davinci its called "Blanking Fill" and in Vegas Pro its called "Black Bar Fill" So to reiterate tonyp 's quote; "Use the right tool for the job... And know the right name of the tool!"

Do not misunderstand my words! I only said about myself, otherwise there is nothing wrong with an editor using several video editing software at the same time.

I don't think anyone is misunderstanding your words.

Hi Amir23 , I don't believe there is a misunderstanding. In fact tonyp and I agree with you that members should use other tools to supplement Videostudio in light of the fact that Alludo may not further develop the software. Radim asked about Power Director and you gave him an honest review. tonyp may prefer another video editor but essentially everyone on this forum is in the same boat and are all in the process of evaluating alternative video editors. Certainly Power Director gets very good reviews and it was always considered a direct competitor to Videostudio in terms of target market. If I was asked a year ago what program I would recommend in addition to Videostudio, I would have immediately said Pinnacle Studio. Of course I hesitate to do that now because unfortunately it looks like Pinnacle is facing the same outcome as Videostudio since it too is owned by Alludo. Currently I am looking at Davinci Resolve since its free and even the studio version is at a reasonable price for what you get. I'm not sure how long this honeymoon will last, but currently its a pretty good deal even though it may far exceed my editing needs. I am also reviewing Vegas Pro since I was able to purchase it as part of a bundle from Fanatical. I think tonyp mentioned the Fanatical bundle deal in another post. And finally I've been playing around with Capcut which also has a free version. The editor itself is a bit too simple for my needs but it has a number of AI tools that I enjoy playing with such as speech to text and text to speech. It also has a good library of royalty free music which you can export and use in another editor if desired. There is controversy regarding the application for collecting personal data and a class-action lawsuit filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois regarding this issue so be forewarned if you are considering to install and use the application. So if other members are happy with different video editors in addition to Videostudio, I would be more than happy to read their comments and reviews.

Ok seems to me this is the beginning of the end of Video Studio. As a long user, since version 8, or 2008, it is a little bit disappointing. But I unfortunately bought a new laptop, Dell XPS, especially to deal with 4K video editing together with upgrading to VS 2023. I experienced so many issues with this combination that I could not figure out which one is to be blamed. At the moment it is a real frustration to work, as the app is constantly freezing, though I need to wait for 2 to 3 minutes and then it starts working again.
So my options would be Capcut which I intalled as many videos on YouTube suggested it lately. I tested it with impoting 4K videos, without creating ating proxies and it worked very well. It was just for testing and not a huge project so I have to do some more testing. It is really a good alternative as it has great features and very user friendly. The only draw back for me is that they do not offer you a once off paid version. Only a monthly or annually subscription, like most softwares developers do. Meaning they want to hook you for life, as if you stop the agreement you wouldn't be able to use it or have to fall back to the limited free version. But I still think it is the best alternative for Video Studio as I see the writing is on the wall...

luna, nothing wrong with you using CapCut except for the extensive data mining it is doing on your computer. It data mines so much that they have been taken to court in the States over this. You can read about it HERE. Dell is known for it's bloatware on their computers. Most people uninstall it since it takes up computer resources. Google "Dell bloatware". As for your issues with VS, maybe start a new post with specifics?
