Good to know. I hadn't heard that. Thank you.

Okay, I have a simple script that, given a forum-specific link, can find all topics and determine how many pages are in those topics generating a list of topic links included pages in topics. It also strips out the SID parameter so we can hopefully avoid that nonsense. I'll use it to create a list of URLs, and then experiment with the wayback machine API. I will try first on the PSP Scripting sub-forum as that's one of the shortest. EDIT: I think it's working. All three pages of this topic have been archived - web.archive.org/web/20240208220013/https://forum.corel.com/viewtopic.php?t=56846I think there is a javascript adding the session id to links automatically. So if you're quick about it hitting the "next page" button does automatically take you to the next archived version. But if the javascript does add the session ID then it breaks continuity. But the pages are being archived. Dealing with the javascript should be relatively simple in the future. EDIT #2: So....wayback takes roughly 20-30 seconds per backup. And not all backups immediately succeed. If this goes correctly the 375 topic pages in the sub-forums should take an hour and 30 minutes to backup. The over 9000 pages on the PSP forums should take a day and a half (assuming everything goes well) The over 30000 pages on the VS forums...I'm gonna need to split this up amongst other users and VMs if we want to guarantee we get as much as possible.

Does anyone have access to the Administration Control Panel on the old forum? In PHPbb, it's near the bottom of the screen, once you're logged in.
1. Click the link for Administration Control Panel. 2. Click the Maintenance tab. 3. In the left panel, click Database: Backup 4. Select the radio buttons for "Full" and "gzip" 5. Underneath the table, click "Select all" 6. Click the Submit button.
There are still some hoops to jump through before the backup is publicly available, but at least the information won't be forever lost in the meantime.

I just looked at that reddit and there's some super knowledgeable people helping us out! Looks like some good news too because JustAnotherArchivist wrote: Another reddit user posted they archived the PSP subforum data and where to find it and how to use a viewer. There's a lot of in-depth technical info that I'll need some time to read and understand, but that's good news too. PS. Looks like the reddit OP only requested PSP subform.

Excellent, especially since my plan for wayback machine was going way slower than anticipated and constant errors.
Because I don't know how to let things go I still have another plan in play, but between the work done by the redditors and the use of httrack to download full webpage copies I won't feel bad if it doesn't work at all.

Maybe the mods but all are volunteers so probably no admin access but could be handy for 1 mod to request from aludo?

Trevor, Kathy_9 and I all have access to the Admin area of the Corel forums with Founder status. That allows us to do just about anything, though we could not do updates regarding new phpBB software versions for the forums. I will look at this suggestion but need to know how big the download is likely to be as I don't want it to overpower my system...

Just to let people know I tried it. I had no trouble accessing the database backup option in Admin. I selected both Full and gzip and Selected All in the window below that. Then clicked Submit. After no more than 2 minutes I got a message saying the backup was complete. I had created a special folder beforehand on my 2 TB HDD (not my SSD C: drive) but that remains empty. In any case, after clicking Submit I was not given any option or indication of where the info would be saved. And I have not been able to identify any other download on my computer dated today. Win 11 Search function is saying "Working on it" but is not producing anything... So where did the info go to?

So where did the info go to? My guess would be the Alludo server.

I downloaded the gzip Ken made using the backup tool. And Ken answered my question here of whether or not he used the Full backup. It was quite a small backup even having been zipped. Only about 500MB unzipped.

Hello all, many thanks for opening this forum here. I finally found my way here from the old forum.
By the way, don't rely entirely on archive.org. I doubt this company will do so, but they could request a deletion of the copies at archive.org at any time.
Looking forward having a great time here with all of you! Ravelli
