Hi Ken and Trevor, would it be possible for me to attach a very short video from my iPhone, 14mb, so you can test it yourself? I could also attach the same video edited on VS so you can visualize the problem. I'm new to the forum and I don't know if it's possible to do that.
Thanks for your help

Hi Mark There is a 1Mb limit on attached single files, videos are quite large You could try the old U2U forums although those are about to close shortly. Your best option would be to upload to a sharing site, Google drive, Dropbox, one drive etc. Then provide a share link here.... Iphone Video from IPhones generally use a variable frame rate which Video Studio seems to struggle with. Should this be the case we would recommend converting the video to a constant frame rate, many use an app called Handbrake handbrake.frKen has posted here and not having these frame issues, which begs the question, do you have rogue frames, can you check the Sample_Lake.mp4 to see if you have issues, you should start a new project each time you test a different Video to make sure the timelines match that video frame rate. Your IPhone Video, right a clip from library for properties, what are they, frame rate etc.

The following content is out-of date, please use this official hotfix instead: kb.corel.com/en/130102------------------------------- After some deep discovering, I believed that there is something wrong with the MP4 library dll of the application. More specifically, the problem is related to a dll file called ulmp4lib.dll. After replacing this file with an old version (such as v26.0.0.213 I provided), I think the problem is solved. The file itself has a vaild digital signature of Corel Corporation, and is not modified by third parties. !!!!! WARNING !!!!! This is NOT an official solution by Alludo & Corel Corporation. I have tested the file by myself, but I can't guarantee that it won't cause other problems, whether it is fixed in SP1 update or not. So USE AT YOUR OWN RISK, and MAKE SURE you have made a backup.
Usage: 1. Download & unzip the compressed file I provided, and you will get a dll file (ulmp4lib.dll). 2. Then, open the installation directory of VideoStudio 2023. You can right click the icon of the VS 2023 shortcut, and then click "Open file location". The default installation directory is "C:\Program Files\Corel\Corel VideoStudio 2023\". 3. Rename the original ulmp4lib.dll file to ulmp4lib_Backup.dll so you can have a backup. 4. Copy ulmp4lib.dll that provided with the compressed file to the installation directory. To restore the modification, delete the existing ulmp4lib.dll file, then rename ulmp4lib_Backup.dll back to ulmp4lib.dll Hope that helps... Fix VS2023 SP1 lag issue.zip (721.87 KB)

Shinjo Kurumi Thank you, i first replaced the file with your version which certainly seems to have fixed the frame issue I then tried using the file from CVS 2022 which again worked ok
I did mention that inserting MP4 video to my timeline took a long time to show the frames, compared to 2022 which was almost instant. That delay still remains. So far I have only tested with the Sample Lake but will do more checks with my own MP4 files
Once again thank you for your input here

Hi Trevor, Here is the link for a simple test : collect.wetransfer.com/board/s7xnv8fr4xevkvbao20240211174358/latest?token=6346adba-ebf6-4b46-b3ed-0e46281be13dimg3052 is the original file of my iPhone test VideoStudio img3052 is the video edited : on this one you can see the chopped movement The properties of img3052 are 1920 x 1080 30.01 fps Is it possible for you to insert it in a timeline and see if the result is the same as VideoStudio img3052 Thanks again. Modification: sorry, Wetransfer doesn't support MOV files so you can't visualize directly but you can download the files and see. Marc J

Hi Mark Your original video is using HEVC and Mov with a variable frame rate. The audio being mono seemed odd for a HD video?
Unfortunately, we cannot set our Project Properties to match the video for Mov types. I used the Sample Lake to set the properties that used 30fps.
Then rendered Same as Project Settings created a MP4 H264 video that seemed ok. Effectively converted from Mov H.265 to MP4 H.264
I then rendered to Mov Hevc, H.265 which produced a poor video that showed the last frame when playing, quite disturbing. The thumbnail also showed the last frame, strange…. Tried again and was some improvement but the dreaded frame issue returned.
I seem to be going around in circles, the best option being convert from H.265 to H.264 We are trying to test using a flawed program, so until they fix this frame issue its difficult Unfortunately the extra frame still shows depending on my render settings, Mov, H.264 or H.265 even with the fix applied
So the best I got was setting the project to same as the Lake Sample then Share , Same as Project Settings.
Does your phone have a different Mov recording setting other than HEVC
Post Updated.... Ok! had a thought?? although the option Same as first Clip is not available I was able to create a new profile via Settings - Movie Profile Manager – Mov Using the Add function allowed me to create a profile using your original Mov video properties.
Then Share Mov I was able to select that new profile.
Using VS 2022 looked ok then tried 2023 that also looked ok, certainly an improvement and no missing frames I had some concerns regarding my PC capabilities so enabled Smart Proxy to create the proxy files.
Now things looked much better.

Hello everyone, and thank you for sharing your experiences on the topic!
The picture of our current issue is becoming more detailed: many of you are also experiencing choppy playback of certain videos, while interestingly others are not – thanks for your feedback, Ken. Shinjo Kurumi has even found an interesting solution with a DLL, thanks for that as well! I'm cautious here because if the current DLL differs from the previous one, there is surely (hopefully) a good reason for it. I am hopeful for an official solution from Corel soon.
However, the conversation with Corel Support is still proceeding very slowly and in very small steps – quite frustrating.
robertoz, for me, it doesn't matter how often I place, remove, and replace my clips on the timeline – the faulty playback remains the same.
Trevor, the issue you described with very long response times when inserting clips does not occur for me. Even very long clips can be placed immediately.
And one more thing: In the meantime, I've also been able to test some clips from my children's smartphones, which have partially "odd", variable frame rates like 30.02 fps, 27.71 fps, or 28.43 fps in time-lapse videos. Even with these clips, the playback in VideoStudio is better and smoother than with those at exactly 25 fps from my DSLR and the good old Sample Lake.
Those are my experiences for today. Looking forward to hearing updates from all of you!

Hi All, I'm Andy, new member, just joined. I am sort of relieved that others are having issues with MP4 files and VS 2023. Relieved in the sense that I am maybe not going mad, but frustrated there is a problem. I too have just started having issues with frame rates. It all worked fine until a few days ago and now nothing I can do seems to fix the stuttering of the image in the preview window and the subsequent renders. They are mostly MP4 25 fps videos, I match the project settings with the video properties, I have tried about every combinaton of settings as yet nothing has worked. I have uninstalled and re-installed the program and the problem still remained. Some of the rendered files I did prior to this still work fine, yet the source videos they were created from now stutter. Very glad you guys have set up this forum and I hope this issue can be resolved.

Hi Andy Did you apply the fix by replacing the ulmp4lib.dll file provided by Shinjo Kurumi in an earlier post.

Have you tried the fix supplied by Shinjo Kurumi which is quoted in the post directly above yours. It replaces the ulmp4lib.dll file and appears to work.

Has anyone received a helpful response from Corel support? Unfortunately, I haven’t heard anything since the disappointing email a few days ago. I wonder if it’s now a ‘known issue’ at Corel, and if anyone is already working on it. What are your experiences with such matters? I’ve been using VideoStudio since the Ulead era and haven’t needed support until now.

Hi Andy Did you apply the fix by replacing the ulmp4lib.dll file provided by Shinjo Kurumi in an earlier post. Hi Trevor, I haven't as yet, it was good of Shinjo to put that tip up. I need to drop Corel a line anyways about the help I had on the re-install of VS 2023, so I will mention the runninh issues with the program when I do. Is it likely Corel will offer a patch if it is an error on their part?
