Restarted VS. Opened project 240310C_07 and start process to create DVD
Took 1 minu 45 sec to open the DVD menu
Shows my project in the area at bottom of window
I did not add chapters here since I had added two on the timeline
Clicked next to create menu.
VS locked up for 14 minutes then I ended task with Task Manager.

Hi You seem to indicate using the project to burn the disc, when you should be using the Mpeg2 video file. Your project used MP4 HD videos, the project should be rendered to same properties, this saved a HD Mp4 video file. Think of it as your “output file”, it is the highest quality you have, the video could be used to upload to YouTube. This high quality “output file” mp4 video can now be converted to a Mpeg2 video file which can be used to burn a disc. To burn a disc first start a new project, that will clear the timelines. Now do Share – Disc – DVD, this opens the burner module. The timeline is empty. Top left for Insert Media, insert Video, now browse for your Mpeg2 On the last page you should choose to create a disc image. Deselect create disc. This extra process should avoid spoiling Discs, creating coasters. After pressing burn the process should start with create menu, assuming you are using a menu. The process create Title should not happen as you are burning a compliant DVD mpeg2 video. Did you read my web page describing the process lata.me.uk/corel/all.htm

Started new project and loaded saved MPEG-2 file Clicked DVD to open the window to create DVD Took 5 seconds to open DVD window Then realized I had not saved the project so closed DVD window Saved project as 240310C_08 Clicked DVD to open the window to create DVD The blue line for loading project shows 100% VS 2023 seemed to lock. When I mouse over VS is shows as hour glass and I cannot close VS. Task Manage shows Corel VideoStudio CPU at 12% . Ended VS task with Task Manager Restarted VS and opened project 240310C_07 Clicked DVD Blue line showed project loading in few seconds Then VS locked up again After 2 minutes ended task with Task Manager Opened VS and started new project Drug the same MPEG-2 file to timeline Save project as 240310 C_09 Clicked DVD and window opened immediately Added Chapters Create menu is checked Clicked Next and VS locked up Leaving it for few hours to see what happens 12:40pm 2:33 still locked up CPU at 12% Attachments:

One thing which always worked for me when I made DVDs was to produce the DVD-compatible mpeg-2, then close VS. Reopen it and do NOT reopen the project. Instead go straight to Share > DVD. The burning module will open and its timeline should be empty. Then click on the first icon in the top left of the burning screen "Add video files". Then add your mpeg-2 and proceed to build your menu. Then proceed with the rest of the process as described above.

Thanks for providing that. I'm sure the others will try using it when they are awake! It's only mid-afternoon Saturday here in New Zealand, so I am wide awake!!
Anyway, I downloaded your mpeg-2 which appears to be DVD compliant. I opened VS 2023, no project open, and went straight to Share > DVD. It too opened without anything in the timeline. I Added your file, built a menu with no problem and certainly no freezing. And I selected on the last page to "burn" an ISO file. The process started immediately, creating a menu, then multiplexing the video and audio. And the whole thing was ready less than 5 minutes later, with a 3.5 GB ISO. It contains as expected a Video_TS folder, as would a burnt DVD. And that in turn contains the relevant VOB, BUP and IFO files you would get on a DVD. I played random parts of the VOBs, and they all played well, with the subtitles very much in sync.
I am not sure what would cause your VS to crash. I think you have already reinstalled at least once, so I won't suggest you do it again. But I could find nothing wrong with your mpeg-2 and obviously enough it performed perfectly for me. Maybe the others will have some ideas when they get around to playing with your mpeg-2.

Downloaded, surprised at speed of download, Dropbox is normally very slow. Then followed exactly Kens procedures, no freezing at any stage, burn to ISO took a few minutes only, (unable to burn to disc, need new DVD burner) the 5 .VOB files created played correctly. Like Ken, cannot explain why you are having issues, your PC setup is far more powerful than mine, do you have access to any other burn programs, like Imgburn (free) you could try

A new day here in the UK Your image provided in a previous post shows the duration as 1 hr 8 min 47 seconds and indicating being oversized by showing the yellow and red indicators to the right of the timeline, your drop box file, you say is 3.3Gb, that would easily fit to disc, the disc capacity being 4.3gb.
Which file are you trying to burn to disc?
Later I will download your video although I expect to have the same results as Robert and Ken

I have downloaded the 240310 C_06_02.mpg sample file. First I inserted the video to the top track, expecting to see the Show Messages to match the Project Properties, that did not show, rather strange. Viewing the 240310 C_06_02.mpg size showed as 3.5Gb, given that it shows as over one hour of video I would have expected 4 Gb ish. The burner shows 4.38Gb I tried rendering to same as first clip, with no edits render was very slow (although I did not time the process) I then rendered to the default profile SD (720 x 480, 16:9, 30p, 8Mbps) Same again no messages. I created / rendered a Mpeg2 using VS 2021, this works ok showing the messages using 2021 and 2023.
So what is wrong with this video. Or is it me that are having this unusual behaviour? ddickerson47, is your sample straight from Video Studio or have you converted the file using another program/app?
Burning a Disc Your timelines as mentioned shows the video oversized yet the file is only 3.5gb. From the Project Settings, the cogwheel lower left, opens a panel with an option to choose “Do Not Convert Compliant MPEG files” deselecting that option will force the process to render/convert the video, the difference may be the Audio stream changing from Digital Dolby to LPCM….my results show an increase in size to the point of showing a yellow flag on the timelines. I reselected the option to continue to burn a Disc Image Iso file without the Convert Title
All seems to work ok other than this size discrepancy and the Show Messages indicating something different/unusual with the Mpeg2
But no crashes, if those continue then i can only suggest re-installing the program, first i would create a new Mpeg2 from your good Mpeg4 video file using the SD (720 x 480, 16:9, 30p, 8Mbps) profile.

Thank you all for all the time you are spending helping me through this. Robertoz asked do you have access to any other burn programs, like Imgburn (free) you could try. Yes I have used Imgburn for several years along with a few versions of Adobe (presently at PE 13) for editing and producing the image file. Trying to move up(?) to VS with its additional capabilities but having a lot of difficulties. Trevor- Your image provided in a previous post shows the duration as 1 hr 8 min 47 seconds and indicating being oversized by showing the yellow and red indicators to the right of the timeline, your drop box file, you say is 3.3Gb, that would easily fit to disc, the disc capacity being 4.3gb. Which file are you trying to burn to disc? That previous image of the burner window was when I was trying to burn the project file from the timeline. Now I am using the MPEG-2 file loaded directly into the burner window, leaving the timeline empty. The 3.3GB file size number was what explorer indicated for the MPEG-2 that I shared above. The burner window now shows 1 hour 8 minutes 47 seconds and does not have the yellow and red indicators. Image below.Trevor - is your sample straight from Video Studio or have you converted the file using another program/app? The MPEG-2 file included above was rendered from VS. “Do Not Convert Compliant MPEG files” is selected in the burner settings.
Will render another MPEG-2 file as Trevor suggested and try loading it into burner directly. If that doesn't work, will reinstall VS. I have a list of instructions on reinstalling from Mohamed Akoojee Intermediate Support Engineer T1 with Corel from back in February, when all this started. I started with the trial version, then bought and reinstalled.
Thanks again for sticking with me.

Hi If you started with the trial version, upgrading to the purchased version has caused some issues in the past. I would always recommend uninstalling the Trial, then download the purchased version as new to install the program.

Trevor, that was part of the lengthy instructions that Mohamed Akoojee shared with me. Thanks for the second to do that. I'm going reinstall again. Here is what Mohamed gave me. Our next step would be to remove and clean up the program completely and reinstall it. Please bear with me as we go through the following troubleshooting steps: Please FOLLOW all the steps below exactly as mentioned, if you miss a step, the software will not work. Please be aware that this installer necessitates the activation of JavaScript within your browser. For enabling JavaScript in the Chrome browser: Navigate to Settings > Advanced > Privacy and security > Site Settings > JavaScript, and ensure that "Allowed" is enabled. For enabling JavaScript in the Microsoft Edge browser: Click on the Start menu, type Edit group policy and select top most result to launch. Expand the User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components folder. Expand the Microsoft Edge folder. Double-click Allows you to run scripts, like Javascript. Choose Enable and click OK to confirm. Update and repair damaged system Images. Please see the Videos links below: Ensure this first Cmd is run first: The Cmd is as follows: DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /restorehealth Once that's complete, please run the cmd found here: and allow time to update all your software. The Cmd is as follows: winget upgrade --all Please update your Windows to the latest version. learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/release-health/release-informationOnce completed, please restart your PC. Use the cleanup tool TWICE for each version listed below to remove all older versions of Video Studio: kb.corel.com/en/128827. In your case, download the cleanup tools for: Corel VideoStudio Ultimate 2023 Once all older versions have been removed, restart your PC. 1. DISABLE all antivirus software temporarily. Create a new empty folder on your PC, adding the "VideoStudio2023_Installer.exe" file to this folder. 2. Right-click on the installer and select "Run as Administrator" 3. Enter your serial number, do not install the trial. 4. Make sure the download folder is pointing to the empty folder created in Step 3. 5. Download all files by choosing "Download only" 6. To install the program, select "Main Program only". Do not Run the program once installed. Run VideoStudio2023_Installer.exe again to install the other packages.

Hi First I would advise that you save any files, certainly your VSP project files to a safe location. Also when you start uninstalling use Program and Features to remove the program, during the process choose to remove all personal data. Then run the cleanup Tool for 2023.
Even so some apps may still remain. Sometimes difficult to remove when shared with other versions. Makes it easier If you have VS 2023 installed with no other versions. Although any additional apps should not affect the burner module function.
There is a folder which is used to reset the program, the folder is hidden so type %appdata% in the desktop search box to locate the Roaming folder. As far as I know this folder does not get removed by the cleanup tool. but by the remove all personal data option.
C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming\Ulead Systems\Corel VideoStudio Pro (x64)\26.0
And yes as advised, downloading a new set of installation files to a new empty folder is the way to go.

Trevor, am I to do something with this information you shared? Or just be aware of it? I did find the path and file. There is a folder which is used to reset the program, the folder is hidden so type %appdata% in the desktop search box to locate the Roaming folder. As far as I know this folder does not get removed by the cleanup tool. but by the remove all personal data option.
