Hi All and thanx for considering my woes
I take raw video using iPhone 11 footage at 4K 60FPS then use VS 23 (v26.1.0.268) to edit / render the footage - typically using MPEG-4 XAVC S 3840 x 2160 50p 65Mbps and I'm happy with the result.
Recently, the rendered videos are slightly jittery, as if stuttering between frames (irrespective of whether I use above MPEG-4 XAVC S or MPEG-4 FHD 1920 x 1080) and I have no idea why. The raw footage is smooth as silk when playing.
Any ideas?
Here's a YT link to a sample:

Hi Candice, I found the hotfix (both by clicking the link and typing the url in the hotfix article) but getting the zip file to download was a bust: double clicking it and doing an explorer copy, but everytime it sat there looking at me, doing nothing. Suggestions?

David -- I just did the download because of your post. I don't intend to install it. But I had no trouble downloading it and even extracting the dll file into my VS2023 installation folder. Mind you, I initially did a bit of what sounded like what you did, And it was only when I looked closely at the page which came up with the zip file, that I noticed, in fairly small print up in the top left of that screen, a small word and arrow saying Download. I'm not meaning to sound as though I am putting you down as I was rather annoyed myself that I couldn't manage a download until I looked rather more closely. I am still rather surprised that the Corel page uses such small print for an important (download) function!!

Ken, Over tea I come to the same conclusion - there had to be something on the page I had missed. Then read your note, and everything fell into place. I don't think it was the font size etc for the download notice, it was the placement on screen: every other download I have done has been with the active link in the top RH part of the page. So when I went looking for the download link, that's where I looked. Double click of a selected item also usually works, as does an explorer copy (drag from one screen to another (in that case, the one-drive page and explorer both open 3/4 size, then click n drag)).
It extracted Ok and now sits in my CVS hotfixes folder.
Now that I have it, why would you not install it?.. it seems to me that even if you would not expect to need it, having it installed prevents any problematic issues.

It was made to fix a specific problem that I did not have. Yes, of course I could install it. But I was worried that that might just cause further problems down the track in an installation which did not have the specific problem the hotfix was created for...

Candive - thanx for drawing my attention to the resolve, which appears to have done the job.

Dean In your original post you mention recording to a frame rate of 60, then rendering using 50fps. Effectively the program will remove 10 frames per second, this could be noticeable a slight stutter, approx every 6 th frame being removed. Is there any reason why you do this?

Ken, A fair point. But I think it just pre-empts the next version (!!) which ordinarily would include any hotfixes released. I reviewed the posted YT jittery version - and I can't see any jitter at all. A bit hard to pick with that dark background of a night telescope viewing (assuming that was the sample video), so I focussed on the hand holding the body of the scope, and it looked perfectly normal apart from the instance when the camera it self moved to a new angle. No apparent jitter, which would be seen as edges fuzzing with with small movement. or maybe I'm looking at the wrong YT clip??

Hi davidk , When dean posted his issue it sounded like the same problem we were all experiencing (except Ken Berry - maybe they have a special version of VS for NZ ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) ) so I posted the link to the hotfix. Anyway, after your comment, I took a closer look at the YT video and there seems to be a slight stutter when the iphone zooms out from the telescope. Also, when files are loaded into YouTube they are transcoded so this may have reduced the effect on the original clip. But I believe Trevor Andrew made an excellent observation in that the original capture was at 60 fps but the render was 50fps.

Candive, A jumpy recording when zooming and moving at the same time is pretty normal, really: none of us have the professional camera mounts used in TV and movies that prevent that. But further thought suggested that any jittery indications were probably removed when they processed the original upload: their systems are all focussed on a speedy download, and that has not changed since they abandoned the flv format for mp4: right at the end of the upload, in the top, RH part of the page you see a short processing notice. that's when it happens. So while I can well imagine the original rendered clip had jitter in it, the YT processing does seem to have removed it. The admins should maybe post a notice about clips for others to review; avoid YT, instead use one of the cloud stores like one drive, dropbox or similar. possible even state a preference for one.
