I have some script coded before that option was available. Now, running this script in newer versions, sometimes, the Crop command will crop as new image, but for others, it does not. Is there an option, somewhere, to toggle this "as new image" by default?
I am stumped as to why the exact same script that does NOT include "'CropAsNewImage':" will do so for some users but not others.
Any suggestion would be welcome.

Just a wild guess but could it be based on what the user last used when they cropped something?

I suspect it may be similar to that other Crop feature when you choose the size for the crop e.g. 16:9 etc. When you use Crop again on another image it automatically uses "Last Applied" and shows a 16:9 sized crop if that is what you used on the previous image... Moreover, it is a crop rectangle which is proportional to the size of the first image crop, even if you want it different or bigger/smaller than the previous image.

Just a wild guess but could it be based on what the user last used when they cropped something? That is a possibility. I can check. I thought there would be an option like the "Picture tubes on new layers", but for Crop.

I tested and once you select the Crop to a new layer option, it stays as that, even if next crops are NOT on new layers. I am stuck now!

I'll see if I can add that parameter and making sure it is ignored for older versions. Thanks.
