Hi All.
Having a problem with Corel Paintshop pro 2023 in that it will not load Nikon Raw files, (Jpegs are not a problem )
Every time l try to open a Nikon raw file it comes up with "unable to open the file, please make sure this file is valid".
l've completly uninstalled the program and removed any residue files using the removal tool found on Alludo and re-installed the program and still no luck. also done a one to one with Corel technical support and they cant find the problem either. Camera is a Nikon D7200 manufactered 2015, l have installed paintshop pro versions 2019 - 2023 and it's only the 2023 version i'm having problems with, all other editing software is fine and will open Nikon raw files with no problems but not paintshop pro 2023, so it's looking like my only option is to come away from Corel unless someone has a solution, as even Corel technical support can't solve it. l can open Raw files in Corel Aftershot with no problems.
Just hoping you guys can solve it for me as i'm so used to Paintshop Pro and dont really want to come away from it. Many Thanks

Just realized I've spent more time editing photos in PSP than I did taking them. Priorities!

Hi Keith and welcome from Major G's! PSP compatibility with RAW files has been a longstanding issue for many users. However it working in psp2019-2022 and not working in 2023 does sound unusual. A couple things I would try: - Hold down shift and start PSP to restore it to its default state.
- Toggle various options in preferences related to RAW files. (Such as "open RAW images with Camera RAW lab").
Neither of these options really seem viable for fixing it, but they are worth a shot before you dispose of PSP. Perhaps someone else might offer a more effective solution.

Many Thanks I just did a test in my PSP 2023. I didn't have a NEF file so I downloaded a test sample of one. When I dragged it over to my open PSP a popup window gave me 3 options. 1. Use AfterShot Lab 2. Use Camera RAW Lab 3. Use Automatic Decoding I chose option 3 and PSP automatically decoded it and opened it in the workspace.

Paintshop Pro 2023 RAW support depends on camera model. NEF is Nikon RAW but each Nikon camera model, like other camera RAW formats, has slightly different specs. You can find a list of (supposedly) supported cameras here, just scroll down to the Nikon section: www.paintshoppro.com/en/pages/raw-support/

The sample I downloaded and tested in PSP 2023 was from the Nikon D7200 review page on the Photography Blog in an article done in 2015. I've tested 3 images from that page and all opened fine for me. The popup appeared giving me the 3 options each time.

It might be worth checking for an update, or it could be that a newer version is incompatible. It would be helpful if keithj057 could upload a RAW image from his Nikon for you to test! Attachments are limited to 1mb and the RAW file is likely too large. If this is the case then upload them elsewhere or split them into multiple part zip folders to upload them here.

keithj057 - I've been in touch with a contact at Alludo/Corel and he is requesting that you provide your RAW image (D7200) for testing as they have been unable to duplicate the issue with their D7200 files.
