I can only find examples of this effect in Photoshop and so set about recreating the effect in PaintshopPro. I used v2023 and a royalty free image, here is a very quick explanation of my steps. Step1. Open the chosen image and click Selections, Edit Selection. A new mask layer will appear but nothing visible on the image...yet. With a white paintbrush begin carefully painting over the main subject, switching to black to correct any errors. When satisfied, click Edit, then Edit Selection to reveal marching ants, make any adjustments to the selection using +/- on the lasso tool and then click Promote selection to layer. Click the little eye icon to hide it. Step 2. On the background layer, roughly select the subject again and click the Magic Fill button. You should then have just the background. (it may look messy but no worries).Ctrl+D to deselect. Uncheck the little eye on the subject layer and the subject will be back in place. Step3. Click Adjust, Blur (motion or radial as desired) Repeat until the intensity you wish is achieved. Step 4. Merge all and save.
