Is there a way to check the DPI of an image in PSP 2023? View>Image Information shows cm so I wasn't sure if my PSP created .png image was at DPI 300. I used an online converter. I'd just like to be able to confirm what I downloaded from the online tool before I use the image.

You need to view the resolution of the image not the Dpi, Dpi is a means of setting the print size of the image. If we have a square image with a pixel resolution of 3000px, printing at 10 inch would use 300dpi (dots per inch) View the image resolution for the actual size. 3000px by 3000px.

Thanks. I opened a 3000 x 3000 px size image and pasted my .png into that. All I had to do was to add more background. I optimized that as a new .png. Did I do that correctly?

The official PNG specification states that the PNG resolution unit is in meters (not inches). If you want to change the resolution without modifying the file, see Levifiction's script "Change resolution" here: levifiction.wordpress.com/tag/utility/

I never use the default. I always change to a high resolution. A customer has never specified exactly 300 dpi however. Thanks for the info. I'll take a look at the article.
