Hey there!
Long time on again/off again user of Paint Shop Pro. I recently upgraded from PSP 2018 to PSP 2023 hoping that the hardware acceleration option might make for better general performance in PSP. However, PSP seems just as sluggish as always, particularly with handling larger size images(4000x4000 and larger). I'm running this on an 13th gen i9, 64 gigs of ram, installed(along with all assets) on a solid state drive, and a 4090 videocard. Windows 11 x64.
Is there anything at all I can do to improve performance? Particularly with brushes being very laggy and falling behind the mouse cursor.

Your system sure sounds fast enough. Sometimes when the brushes lag I will decrease the step and that improves it.

It's worth double-checking if the correct processor is handling PSP, especially since Windows is now in control of this instead of Nvidia. Windows Settings> Search Graphics Settings> Select PSP> Choose Processor

Windows Settings> Search Graphics Settings> Select PSP> Choose Processor This was a great idea. I didn't know that setting existed. Sadly it didn't seem to make a difference Task Manager doesn't even show the GPU being used. The Details tab just shows 0% usage no matter what I do.

That's my fear, that it's just PSP being slow and there's not much one can do about it. I'll try decreasing the step though, thanks!

Just an update on this. I reached out to Corel support about this. Apparently the GPU acceleration is only there for the AI stuff and image resizing. Seems like a waste that it's not used for the more common functionality.
