Has anyone used LUXEA Pro Video Editor 7?
If so, thoughts, comments, snide remarks?

I personally have not reviewed LUXEA. The software is by acdsee, a company which is more photography oriented. One criteria I have in deciding to invest in software is what type of Community exists and are there tutorial videos on YouTube etc. I notice that acdsee does have a community. Again it looks like its geared towards photographers and unfortunately you can not browse their forum to get a feel of their Community. So based on those observations I personally probably wouldn't look further into it since I'm learning a couple of other editors at the moment. But if you have an interest, you can certainly trial the the software, sign up to their user forum and if LUXEA is the next best thing since sliced bread (and Videostudio ) , please let us know. I think we are all hedging our bets and looking at other editors to supplement Videostudio.

Thanks for the list alanballWhile the report was published in March 6th, you have to wonder when they conducted the speed test; was it all at once or when they reviewed the software? Programs may have updated since then. But its a good list for us to see what is currently in the market. Filmora is number one in the chart and yet I don't know anyone who uses it (obviously not in my age group!). VCDC had a pretty good ranking and and its quite reasonably priced. They have a free version that is not watermarked so the OP may want to consider that one too. The Best Video Editing Software for 2024Interestingly PCMag doesn't recommend acdsee, VCDC (I always get those two confused because they sound so familiar) and surprisingly Vegas Pro which a number of members on this forum like and use in addition to Videostudio. It really comes down to personal preference and as I indicted earlier, I personally seek a good community which I can engage with to help me get over the learning curve hump. I've been participating on the Magix and Vegas Pro forums and the folks over there have been very helpful.

Great comments Candive, and I agree fully with your comment about video editors having a good user group. This group is one of the main reasons I've been using VS since release 7. I knew nothing about video or video editing when I first joined the VS user group, so have a lot to be thankful for, for all the help I've had from volunteers in this group.

I love those "Best Video Editing Software" links. Really? They have Pinnacle Studio "Best for Color Grading and Keyframe Editing", and Davinci Resolve Free as the best free software. Something a little messed up. And Powerdirector as the best "overall". What a joke that is. I've commented on their Vegas review where they stated things that weren't accurate. They've always had PD as their top choice. I'm sure there is a little money paid for that. There is no way you can compare Resolve Free to the other software except Premiere (Best for professionals) Pro. Makes me wonder why Avid is the "pro" choice in movie editing.
These "reviewers", in spite of their "credentials" don't know the more complex software. It takes time to learn "how". Lots of time. And they have to get an article out to be published. Impossible to give a fair critique of any but the most simple editing software.
