First I need to say Hi to some of my ol' friends, Ken Berry, and Trevor Andrew ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) , just to name a couple. I'm dropping in to see if there's an answer to an issue I've not been able to work out.
I still have a lot of old DV-AVI files that I want to use again. It's sort of important to put them in a chronological order. In my old age my memory isn't as sharp as what it was. So I rely on the time code in these older files. Well I discovered the Display DV Time code on Preview Window (Settings >Preferences>General menu) does not work. I've tried all the common fixes of re-installing, repairing to no avail. I still had VS 2018, so installed it, and the DV time code preview is displayed for those files. So this appears to be a bug... Will they correct it? I don't think so. At this point after reading some posts here, that's a rhetorical question.
System I'm currently running is Windows 10 home, 32GB Ram, 2-SSD total space of 2 Tybt, and a Nvidia RTX 3070 GPU.
It's sad to read that Alludo may trash VS and PSP. That does seem to be the norm nowadays. I'm still not happy about Corel shelving, trash-binning Ulead MediaStudio.. ![;-|](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/squint.png) Oh well such is life.

Hello Ron, good to hear from you and hope you are keeping well. It’s been a long time since I worked with DV but will dig out some files, if I can find them. What version of VideoStudio are you using or is it only 2018.
As you know I am in the UK so it will be tomorrow before I can do anything.

Hi Ron A new day and I tested VS2021, 2022 and 2023 all fail to show the timecodes. I also had VSX8 installed which worked ok. If you recall we used a small app called Media Info, mediaarea.net/en/MediaInfo that shows the timecode as the recording date. Maybe that will be a better / quicker option. Once you know the timecode are you intending to rename all files, a daunghting task, or just rename the folder. Post Updated I have a video media player called PotPlayer, not had it long as only mentioned recently on the forums, just testing. Using this I was able to play the clips, then a right click on screen gave an option Playback System Info (Ctrl + F1) gave file info very similar to Media Info. So far I have not found how to show the timecode when playing the video.
