Turned of Windows 1o VS2023 Sunday night and Monday morning on startup VS2023 gives splash screen short view of VS then crashes to desktop. Have uninstalled/reinstalled several times but no joy. I select to remove everything during uninstall but the reinstall poipulates my data.
I'll try using the cleanup tool but want to ask if anyone knows file names/locations of the registration data. I would manually delete that first to see what happens.

Hi I think this has been a problem in the past and may have a Knowledge Base topic.
I believe removing / deleting the messages folders did fix this.
Not on the pc at the moment but can give locations if you cannot find the Messages.
Ok... here
C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming\Corel\Messages
C:\ProgramData\Corel\Messages
Updated
as a thought there was an issue running VS2023 and PSP 2023 at the same time, this should have been fixed with the service packs, so are you running PSP.
update 2 I have tested my programs and cannot launch VS when PSP is running, so have I missed a hotfix or update, or has the problem returned?

Hi Trevor, thanks for reply. No I don't have PSP on any system. I'll look into your first suggestion in an hour or so.

Big fail again. Driving me nuts. I have a backup but there have been other application updates I'll have to find.

In my memory, some NewBlue plugins may cause VS2023 fail to launch.
Try to uninstall the existing application, then install main application only (no standard contents & bouns features)

C:\Program Files\NewBlueFX\uninstallers If you re-install Video Studio, we were advised not to launch the program untill we have uninstalled the New Blue filters. the NB conflict only seems to affect some users, I have never had a problem, maybe that i only install NB that comes with the program. I think Robert has had more issues with this problem and finally fixed by uninstalling one of his purched NB filters. I'm sure he will comment.

Too late, already restarted. I'll uninstall/reinstall again and follow your instruction above.
Then again mayby a backup restore might be easier.

I did have a major NB issue with NB filter packages What I think happened was copying filter packages into various VS versions over the years, created some duplicate filters which were corrupted, causing launch failure, spent nearly a day checking each individual filter from 8 packages to identify then delete the corrupted ones. Not had an issue since the clean up.
EDIT
NBTP5 has also caused major issues for many users, has not worked for a number of versions, having NBTP7 (which came free with Vegas Pro 21) I was fortunate to be able to remove NBTP5

robertoz, I have NBFX TotalFX 360 which includes TP7. Before that, I has TP7 as a plugin for Vegas. I was having all sorts of problems trying to get it to work. Tech support suggested that I remove TP5. After that, all was well. Sadly, TP7 did not show up as a VS plugin. At least on my computer. But I usually did my title work with TP7 standalone anyway.

I've had that issue to. Even with using the cleanup tool, never quite got it to run. Someone mentioned doing a custom reinstall without NBFX.

Originally the KB links pointed to the old U2U forums, as such opened the Corel Support pages, it did not download the cleanup tools. I reported this to Corel Support, good to know they listened and fixed the links on the KB.

But it seems that they missed clean-up tool of VideoStudio X4,the link will actually download the X5 version...
