Jan, you will fall in love with NZ, the scenery on the drive from Auckland down to Wellington is spectacular, In Rotorua, if time permits, visit Hell's Gate Geothermal Park, not cheap, (cost $35 11 years ago)but worth a visit, the smell of sulfur will stay in your nostrils for weeks after your visit. A 2 week visit, you may regret not having more time, there is so much to see and do, if possible you should also include a visit to the Hobbits film set

I told my husband when I started planning this trip last year, that I had to cut back on the itinerary since there was so much to see. I added we can always go back. I'll see if my husband has Hell's Gate on his list. I think maybe the comedian Stephen Colbert went to the Hobbit film set. I saw his coverage of NZ when he went some years ago.
Yeah, it's Super Tuesday. People in other countries are wondering if the US has gone mad. Some people here indeed have.

Yes -- Tikitere, as Hell's Gate is called in the Maori language, is a definite must to visit. I have been to it 3 times with different visitors, and loved it every time. It got its English name from a visit there by the British writer George Bernard Shaw in 1934 who said he thought he was looking at the Gates of Hell... The Maori guides picked up on that. One of my friends even had a geothermal mud bath which is one of the things on offer... There's a area of a local park within Rotorua itself which has a passable number of geothermal attractions, and its free. And there's another very large (and expensive) Maori park with all the geothermal wonders, including the highest geyser, right in town too. I've greatly enjoyed that one too. Hell's Gate is a few miles out of town...

I didn't buy the most expensive camcorder. That sad, I do like to have good quality movies. It is a hobby that I enjoy doing. Note that many people find that the video from modern high-end smartphones is very good and meets their requirements without the need to carry around a dedicated camera. In fact, most of these do 4K and some even do 8K. Perhaps you have such a phone.
P.S. If you like high-end public gardens, Hamilton Gardens in Hamilton, New Zealand is well worth a visit.

I have two enlarged photos (looking north and then south) on a wall of Long Beach, on Long Island, Bahamas, that was taken with my phone. They are very clear. I also have some videos from the phone too. I actually like looking through the camcorder viewfinder. As some may remember, we were in the Galapagos years ago when our previous camcorder was stolen (in camera bag). Now that we retired from scuba diving, we don't have all the dive gear to haul around. Typically one of us takes camera pictures (and/or phone pictures) while the other shoots video. Keeps us busy and out of trouble.
Thanks for the tips for New Zealand. I think we will be able to do all of the recommendations.

Hi Jan I live North of Auckland at a place called Hatfields Beach, near a lovely little sea side town of Orewa. If you intend passing this this way, I read the board every morning while eating my breakfast, it would be great to catch up. I used to visit a camp site opposite Hells Gate, when my girls were teenagers and was called Heaven's Door🤣 a Christian camp. Hope you have a great trip Jan. Alan

Hi Jan I just thought about your trip to the Forrist North NZ. Just a heads up about the State Highway 1 North. They had a lot of road slips last year, and part of it is close travelling north. You will be OK going to the forest, but if you are returning by the East Coast it may affect you plans: SH1 Brynderwyn Hills - createsend.com/t/t-E0B72336DDE862A12540EF23F30FEDEDWorth checking. Alan

Thank you! I have my Garmin NZ navigator loaded, and am letting my husband fill in other things he wants to do up in that area. I had no idea! We have so little time on both islands that I need to make sure we don't get stuck at a closed road.
I guess I am missing something. Why are there New Zealanders active in the Corel Video Studio Forum?

For my own part, I first started using Corel products with CorelDRAW 3 in the 1990s. I was also interested in video since I bought my first video camera, a Sony, back in 1989. I did some rudimentary editing with other products, but Corel's VideoStudio 7 caught my eye when it was released in 2003. And I have had every version since then. I had also signed into the Corel users forums around the same time, and had stuck with them till their very recent end. VideoStudio was of course not just a North American product but with users all over the world. I have in fact only lived in New Zealand for 14 years. Before that I lived in Australia where I was born in 1949. And I was an Australian diplomat for many years, posted to a variety of countries, and Australian Ambassador in Chile, Peru and Bolivia towards the end. I am also an international lawyer and have worked on a number of international initiatives including as research director of the International Commission on Nuclear Non-proliferation and Disarmament. It was in fact after the last meeting of that body in Vienna in 2010 that I finally retired and moved to New Zealand. No regrets at all, and I am still taking videos and still using VideoStudio! And of course, having been a Site Administrator of the Corel forums until they closed, I was also happy to help set up this new forum with my colleagues Trevor and Kathy.

Hi Jan I have often wondered myself how many users we have in NZ. I came out to NZ 1974, with 3 young daughters, we told the family we would be back in 2 years, still here. One daughter now living in the UK one in Hastings and the other in welling. I started with a Corel sample disc, VS 6.5 that came with my video camera. Like Ron I started with VS7. Earlier on around VS10, we did have someone out from Corel touring the country, displaying what the latest issue was capable off. We had quite a good turn-out in Auckland. I thought they may have started a user group of some kind similar to the Autocad user group we had for the computer aided design program we used at work, but never heard any more from them. I have upgrade occasionally to VS2021, but must admit I still use VS2018 as I find it very stable and logical to use. My usage is mainly for home travel videos, so covers that type of editing very well. Just working on videos on a river cruise we did last year, Budapest to Amsterdam, also 2 months touring UK and Wales. Weather at the moment here good, but we are into Autumn, so you get varied weather in both Islands. I hope you strike it lucky. Safe travels. Alan

I got the Corel VideoStudio Pro X3 and other Corel products in November, 2010. Where does the time go? We had our first camcorder in the 1990's, but not much was done with those videos. When I retired, I decided that somebody had to take the video editing helm. It fell to me since I am more computer literate than my husband. I'm not an "artsy" or creative person, but I enjoy working with the videos.
I opted to go to NZ in the fall, since in the spring the snow may still be hanging around in the mountains on the South Island. By the way, I live west of Lake Tahoe, east of San Francisco, and about 12 miles south of Sacramento. The Sierras (Lake Tahoe) got a bunch of snow this winter, which was badly needed. I was born and raised in Maryland, and my husband is an Oregon native. we traveled around for my work and settled in Elk Grove in 1999. We like the weather here. We don't get snow and I have hummingbirds year round.
I will be packing my poncho for NZ.

Jan Sounds as though you live in a beautiful place in the US, unfortunately the only time I have been to the US, was when we first came to NZ. Coming from the UK, we have mainly been to counties around the Mediterranean, France, around to Isreal and Jordan. Hope your Poncho is waterproof.😀

After the 2016 presidential election, I said I wanted to move somewhere, like NZ. My college room mate told me I was too old to move to another country. Ha ha. Won't be long before I will be there!
